Do not over stretch your Mute Mate. They are not designed to be yanked or pulled with too much force.

What kind of sound does it make?

It ultimately dampens the sound similar to when palm muting the strings. However, with Mute Mate you have the added bonus of being able to play fingerpicking and use other techniques that aren't possible when using your right hand to palm mute.
